Young musicians contest 2010
Belarusian cello player Ivan Karizna performed in final of 2010 Eurovision Young Musicians
15th International Eurovision Young Musicians, organized by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), was held in Vienna.
18 year-old cello player Ivan Karizna became the first representative of our country at the classical music competition Eurovision Young Musicians.
Grant holder of the Spivakov Fund conquered the jury by his perfect masterful technique combined with emotionality. Ivan Karizna played the third part of Joseph Haydn’s concert C-dur for cello and orchestra. The musician was seeded 5 and performed in front of Vienna City Hall.
The 18 year-old musician from Belarus successfully reached the final of the competition out of 14 challengers. By the decision of the jury, led by Austrian violinist Werner Hink, representatives from 7 countries became the finalists: Croatia, Norway, Poland, Germany, Belarus, Slovenia and Russia.
16-year-old Eva-Nina Kozmus, a flute player from Slovenia, who played a piece of French composer Jacques Ibert, became the winner of the competition. 16-year-old violin player from Norway Guro Kleven Hagen with variations on themes of Peter Tchaikovsky’s pieces of music became the second prize holder. 19-year-old pianist from Russia Daniil Trifonov, who masterfully performed Frederic Chopin’s “Big Brilliant Polonaise”, became the third.
According organizers and founders, the final of the 2010 Eurovision Young Musicians became an opening ceremony of the well-known Vienna Festival of Arts. The Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra accompanied the finalists of the competition. The international professional jury headed by Hungarian composer Peter Eotvos estimated performances of young talents from seven countries.
