National eliminations for Eurovision 2020: the final is near!

On February 28, the winner of the national eliminations for Eurovision 2020, who will represent Belarus at the prestigious song forum in Rotterdam, will be determined live on Belarus 1 and Belarus 24 TV channels.

This year’s final gala concert will be held for the first time in one of the pavilions of Belarusfilm national film studio. A spacious  area of 1000 m2 will allow mounting the stage with the desired lighting, sound and screen equipment, and increase the stage space and dance floor.

On February 24, the media holding team will begin assembling the stage and equipment, and on February 25 and 26, individual final rehearsals await all the finalists - competitors will be able to improve  the vocal and choreographic features of their performance. On February 27 and February 28, dress rehearsals of the gala concert will take place.

The final show will begin on February 28 at 22.00. Traditionally, the audience of TV channels Belarus 1 and Belarus 24 will see the live broadcast of the concert, as well as visitors to the website of the Belteleradiocompany www.tvr.by. On-line audio broadcasting will be presented by Radius FM radio station on a wavelength of 103.7. The hosts of the concert are Yevgeny Perlin and Helena Meraai; German Malyshitsky and Olga Venskaya will comment the show on Radius FM.

According to the results of the draw, the finalists will enter the stage in the following order:

The winner of the national eliminations will be determined by summing up the votes of the professional jury and the audience according to the classic 50/50 formula. The finalist with the highest number of points will receive the right to represent Belarus at Eurovision 2020, get a special award, a stylized "Eurovision" heart, and from March 1 will become the main character of the "Eurovision Diaries", which will be broadcast on the channel Belarus 1 on Sundays until the end of the international competition.

The jubilee 65th Eurovision Song Contest will be held in May this year in Rotterdam (Netherlands). Semifinals will be held on May 12 and 14, and the final on May 16. The representative of our country will perform in the first part of the first semi-final. The live broadcast of the two semi-finals and the finals will traditionally be aired by Belarus 1 and Belarus 24 TV channels.

The project is carried out by the National State Television and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus (organizer) as the only member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) in our country and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus (co-organizer) in accordance with the regulations developed by the organizer and the competition rules established by the EBU.
