The bad weather, which made a real mess in the south of Belarus last weekend, reached Minsk on Thursday, flooding the central streets and blocking the citizens in cars and public transport. It's a blessing that the capital was not affected.

Nevertheless, everyone should be ready to deal with the elements. Emergency Situations Ministry, Ministry of Energy, utilities, Ministry of Forestry and we, ordinary Belarusians, should not lose vigilance. This is akin to martial law! If you hesitate, you will lose the battle.

“Trees were bent to the ground, everything was flying. It was such a fear! My neighbor got on her knees, started praying, baptizing. We had never seen such a thing before,” recalls Alla Suprunovskaya, a resident of Mozyr District, with horror.

A week has passed since the terrible hurricane. And there are stories like this in every house you enter! This is Mozyr District. Century-old trees were ripped out by the roots, roofs flew off like leaves in the fall.

“There was no communication. We had no communication. The fence must be rebuilt,” says Mozyr District resident Anastasia Martinovich with tears in her eyes.

The disaster attacked the whole south of the country without warning, taking six people from their homes,” she said.
