Chairman of Brest Regional Executive Committee Yuri Shuleiko has been appointed Deputy Prime Minister in charge of agriculture. The corresponding personnel decision was made by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, reports BelTA correspondent.

This position in the government has been vacant since the head of state appointed Leonid Zayats a member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the eighth convocation.

The President noted the successful work of Yuri Shuleiko as chairman of the regional executive committee: "He has succeeded, it is very important. It means he knows what is going on there as well."

"I am grateful that you accepted this position. I understand that a governor is a governor: away from Golovchenko, Ryzhenkov, Krutoy, it's quieter there. Here we need to build a good system of work in agriculture, first of all. As a knowledgeable person, you agreed to take this job - thank you. If you want some other job, I promised you: come and tell me, we will consider it. I think you can do it. We're ready to support."
