The chambers of the royal secretary, the castle chapel and the bathhouse. Today, the renovated halls with the interiors of the XVI century have opened in the Old Castle in Grodno. This completes the first phase of reconstruction of the architectural monument. The works have been underway here since 2017, and they are divided into several stages. The restorers tried to recreate the atmosphere of the 16th century in every detail.
The reconstruction of the old castle in Grodno has been underway since 2017. During this time, the fortress wall and the entrance tower have been restored, the measuring hut and the stonewall have been built. The museum exposition is located in these premises. All works have been carried out under the strict control of historians and archaeologists.
The Old Castle is in demand among tourists. After the opening of the first exhibition the complex was visited by 140 thousand people.
About 30 million rubles haы already been spent on reconstruction of the first stage of the castle. The project is financed both from the national and local budgets.
The next stage of reconstruction of the old castle is the royal palace. Archaeologists have already studied the cultural layers in the surrounding area. Now the research work is carried out in the building itself and the design documentation is being prepared.
