The day that will go down in our history! Belarus has become a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Such a decision was signed today at the summit of the organization. It is taking place at these minutes in Astana.

Belarus has become a member of the SCO

So, Belarus is the 10th member of the Shanghai family, which is represented by such regional and global giants as Russia, China, India and Iran. Today, the SCO sets the vector of development of the entire Eurasian continent, interacting in different spheres: politics and security, economy and culture.

Over a quarter of a century, the organization has become one of the most influential and authoritative international structures. Interest in the SCO in the world is steadily growing. But the main thing is the Shanghai spirit inherent in integration. The SCO demonstrates that there are other centers of power where the voice is heard and the interests of all are respected - without superiority and domination. And this policy is close to Belarus.

Addressing the summit, Alexander Lukashenko thanked all his colleagues for the unanimous decision to support Belarus in its aspiration to join the organization. Our President outlined a number of areas to which our country plans to pay special attention as a full member of the SCO.
