In modern realities, a new Eurasian security architecture is needed, otherwise the planet will sink into chaos. This was emphasized by the State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Alexander Volfovich.

High representatives of the BRICS and BRICS Plus countries are meeting in St. Petersburg today.

The agenda includes issues of international and regional security, the risks of new military conflicts, the crisis in Ukraine, the tense situation in the European region and the Middle East.

BRICS High Representatives Meeting on Security Issues

BRICS is developing and expanding every year. It started with 4 countries, now there are already 9, and more than 20 countries want to join the association. In total, the BRICS countries account for more than 40% of the world's population. They form one third of the world's GDP. The share of the unions in world trade is more than 20%. But economic development is impossible without a stable situation in the countries. Therefore, international and regional security issues, especially today, are of paramount importance.

Alexander Volfovich, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus:

“Today, the US, the collective West has withdrawn from almost all treaties that would have provided some kind of elementary security and arms control. All this has been destroyed. And today, unfortunately, the leading international platforms of the UN, the OSCE, which were designed primarily to ensure and maintain peace and stability in the region.”
