Lukashenko: There is a huge demand for industrial products in Africa, Latin America, Asia, and we should occupy our niches here

Belarusian industry needs to occupy its niches in Africa, Latin America and Asia. This task was set by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at the meeting on the state and tasks of industrial development, BelTA reports.

In recent years, the foreign trade of the organizations of the Ministry of Industry was characterized, on the one hand, by the growth of export supplies, on the other hand, by the forced withdrawal from Western markets. In 2023, the industry produced a record export for the last decade - $6.5 billion. The increase to the level of 2022 is almost half a billion, or about 8%.

And exports have steadily increased for three years in a row. So, the industry has been able to level out the negative trends of 2019-2020, said Alexander Lukashenko. Supplies are reoriented to the markets of friendly countries. First of all, to the traditional market of brotherly Russia and other CIS countries.

"However, the situation is much worse in the far abroad. The volume of sales amounted to less than 20% in relation to the pre-sanction 2021. Plans for exports to friendly countries of the far arc have not been fulfilled. In Africa, Latin America, Asia today there is a huge demand for industrial products. We need to work hard here and occupy our niches. And first of all on the African continent," the President emphasized.
