Belarus ready to participate actively in modernization programs of Kursk Region

Belarus is ready to participate actively in modernization programs of Russian regions, for example, of Kursk Region. In general, it is the regions that make the integration plans of our countries come true.

Everyone notes the window of opportunity that we have for work today. Life pushes us to be closer. No one is against it. Construction, industrial cooperation, agro-industrial complex - there are reserves everywhere, especially since Kursk is planning to become one of the top 10 Russian regions in terms of sustainable development.

Trade turnover with Belarus is not exorbitant yet, around 200 million dollars, but it's growing. A clear proposal was made in Minsk not just to trade but to create joint productions and actively promote the import substitution.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus:

“Our country has gained successful experience in implementing cooperation projects for the production of almost all machinery: tractors and combines, other agricultural machinery, automotive equipment. We can share our experience with our colleagues from Kursk. We have the necessary resources to participate in import substitution programs. I have already talked about this with President Putin; we recently made this decision. On our part, we have proposed specific projects to the Russians that will be in great demand not only in Belarus but also in the Russian Federation in the near future. The Russians are earmarking nearly $1.5 billion for these programs in Belarus alone. We understand that without import substitution, especially in critical industries, the so-called critical imports, it will be very difficult for us to develop. We have to develop our own economy, our own industry.”
