Belarus begins renewed political course, what stages are to be passed?

25 февраля 2024

Belarusians are entering a new era of the political system of governance. Time demands it. It is necessary to react to the current events and put an effective barrier to unhealthy external influence.

We made the first step to this when we voted for the Constitution in the referendum. Now we are starting our renewed political course.

A new political system is being built in Belarus. To be more precise, we are building it with our own hands. Another vertical of power is being formed, where public administration is actively supplemented by elements of public policy. By adopting the updated Constitution in 2022, we have demonstrated the readiness of the society and the authorities to seek and, most importantly, to find compromises.

Thus, keeping Belarus a presidential republic, the system is being built in such a way that each branch of power is not only balanced, but also has leverage over the other (this is a reinsurance in case someone starts violating the legislation). The position of the government will be strengthened, and the role of the parliament will increase.

The All-Belarusian People's Assembly will stand over all public structures. In other words, the people are the source of power, and the All-Belarusian People's Assembly is the supreme representative body. Delegates will be elected for 5 years. Everything is official! The status of the People's Assembly is enshrined in the Constitution.

Four political parties are officially registered in Belarus now.

"Belaya Rus", Communist Party, Liberal Democratic Party and Republican Party of Labor and Justice. They have an important mission - to be a bridge between the state and society, strengthening stability inside the country and protecting it from destructive ideology, which can lead to irreversible consequences.

Our political system is adapting to the challenges of the time - not with a bang, but gradually, step by step, when society is ready for these changes. After all, it is important not to chase reform for reform's sake. It is important that the institutions of the state work effectively. It is important to preserve continuity. It is important to make sure that the new enriches, not destroys what has been achieved.
