Belskaya: Another UNHRC resolution on Belarus is an instrument of gross interference in internal affairs

4 апреля 2024

Belarus has developed resilience to external pressure, ability to ensure national security, defend sovereignty, develop the economy and social sphere despite massive sanctions pressure. All this forces Western opponents to toughen their unfriendly approaches, in particular, articularly on the platform called the UN Human Rights Council.

Larisa Belskaya, Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN Office in Geneva:

"In addition to the mandate of the special rapporteur on Belarus, another special procedure is being established: 'three independent experts'." And this is happening against the background of lack of funds, blocking the implementation of many important decisions of the HRC! Apparently, the political interests of the West in the HRC must be ensured at any cost. It is obvious that the main goal of these mechanisms will continue to be building up disinformation and discrediting the Belarusian state in the HRC, justifying the sanctions policy of their Western sponsors.

Another resolution on Belarus is an instrument of gross interference in the internal affairs. Its task is to increase pressure on the authorities, to achieve changes in the foreign policy priorities of Belarus in order to change the geopolitical balance of power in the region. Our representative once again reminded: Belarus maintains a strong state based on the unity and patriotism of the people, their commitment to peaceful evolutionary development and their categorical refusal to accept the color revolutions.
