The Ministry of Natural Resources and environmental protection reminded about the rules of behavior when meeting with wild animals in the forest.
In connection with the beginning of an active visit to the forests the Ministry of natural resources and environmental protection recommends to familiarize with the rules of conduct in the forest when meeting with wild animals. The Ministry's website contains the following materials: "Memo of behavior when meeting wild animals", "How to prevent wild animals from damaging people's property" and "Main features of behavior when meeting a bear".
General rules of behavior in case of an accidental encounter with a wild animal: do not run away from the animal, do not turn your back to it, but slowly retreat heeling, observing its behavior; do not look directly into its eyes, but do not lose sight of it; do not panic, do not make sudden movements, do not wave your hands, do not shout; never come close, do not try to touch or pet a wild animal if it seems safe to do so (especially if the animal makes contact - this is one of the signs of rabies); do not throw anything at animals, do not provoke them; do not catch wild animals and do not approach wounded animals; stay away from baby mammals.
