Orthodox believers celebrate Palm Sunday

28 апреля 2024

Orthodox Christians today have Palm Sunday. A week before Easter, believers remember one of the most important evangelical events - the Entrance of the Lord into Jerusalem.

This day is solemn and joyful. 2 thousand years ago, many pilgrims gathered in the city, and all of them jubilantly welcomed Christ riding in on a donkey. Just as Jesus was greeted with palm branches, today Orthodox Christians hold sprigs of willow and flower bouquets. They are symbolically consecrated in all churches and then kept all year long.

According to an ancient belief, they protect the home from troubles and give health.
