President visits St. Ilya Church of the Holy Dormition Nunnery in Orsha on Easter Sunday

Today is a special day for believers. The Orthodox celebrate one of the main Christian holidays - Easter. People all over the country go to festive services. Churches are full of prayers for health, well-being and peace. Alexander Lukashenko always attends the churches on Easter. By tradition he meets the day of Christ's Resurrection together with his fellow countrymen. The President came to the St. Ilya Church of the Holy Dormition Nunnery in Orsha. It was founded back in the XVII century. It survived the years of closure, during the Great Patriotic War the services were resumed, and the real revival of the spiritual center of these places began in 1996. The Belarusian President is always welcomed in his native place in a special warm and cordial manner.

In Belarus every person can find his or her way to the church. Representatives of various confessions live in our land in complete peace. The current Easter services are held both in large churches and in small churches. The heart of every believer at this moment is filled with hope and faith in good things.

On this bright holiday Alexander Lukashenko thanked the clergymen for their important spiritual mission. Addressing the audience, the Belarusian President recalled how in childhood everyone waited for the Bright Resurrection. The holiday fills hearts and souls with warmth.
