West persistently trying to rewrite history - To whom the Great Victory and the immortal feat of the Soviet people do not give rest?

9 мая 2024

Our ancestors sacrificed themselves in the name of life. While our hearts are full of light memory of the heroes who stood up in defense of the Motherland and were able to withstand in a terrible war, others are trying their best to forget about the Great Victory, provoke new conflicts, sow aggressive nationalism and push peoples head-on.

To whom the Great Victory and immortal feat of the Soviet people do not give rest?

We see the falsification of facts and attempts to create a new historical narrative. The role of the Red Army in the liberation of their own countries has been actively trying to remove from the memory of Europeans for many years. No expense is spared in destroying history. We see the demolition of monuments, the rewriting of documents, the creation of new textbooks and "ideological activities" according to political orders - everything to obliviate the horrific crimes of the past.

Spiridon Kilinkarov, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of V-VII convocations:

We fought not just with fascist Germany. Everything would be easier if other countries of the European Union were not involved. You can count on the fingers of one hand the countries that resisted Hitler's Germany.

And, of course, this all irritates them very much. Especially the fact that this historic Victory is not forgotten and nobody is forgotten. No one will forgive anyone for anything. No one will forgive anyone for anything.

In their attempts to break the collective mentality of the people, they act more and more fiercely every year. Back in 2010, unofficial festive events were held in Riga. Thousands of people laid flowers at the memorials.

Spiridon Kilinkarov:

You understand, a vacuum will be formed - it will be filled with lies, propaganda, false historical facts, and it will all be in the heads of our youth, future generations. If we stop doing it, if we give up on it and say, "Oh, come on, whatever. Let's think about it, it was there 70, 80, and maybe someday there will be a period of 100 years ago. Let's forget it, turn the page, move on. It doesn't work that way. If we only do that, we will cease to exist as a country, as a people.

Time is inexorably moving forward and the witnesses of that terrible war are leaving. But as long as we remember them, they live on. We have no right to forget the tragic pages in our worthy past. History is not a science of the past, it is a science of the future.

A few years later, the Latvian authorities had total amnesia. Both the memory was sold and the feats were finally betrayed. Last year more than 25 people were detained for celebrating Victory Day in the country.

May 9 is now banned there, and an attempt to lay flowers even at dismantled Soviet monuments is considered a crime.

The inhabitants of Moldova used to celebrate Victory Day in a big way. Solemn events, rallies, meetings of veterans.

But even there, to please the West, the authorities agreed to erase history. Substitution of people's values. This year the EU mission in the country demanded to provide the central square of Kishinev on May 9 to celebrate the Day of Europe. The participants of the rally were also asked to "leave the center".

Ilan Sor, politician and businessman (Moldova):

The President of Moldova, having sold her conscience to the European Union, replaced Victory Day with some "Europe Day" - this is a betrayal of the generation of winners.

Estonian authorities threaten people with jail for celebrating May 9. Berlin police banned Russian symbols on May 8-9 on Soviet memorials. Lithuanian security forces were put on high alert.
