Semen Shapiro, former governor of the Grodno Region, was appointed as the governor of the Minsk Region. Vladimir Kravtsov - the deputy of the House of Representatives who was the Chairman of the Standing Committee for Economic Policy - will now be heading the Grodno Region Administration. When appointing the new governors, Alexander Lukashenko focused his attention on the development of the economic parameters of the regions.

Among the goals of the governor of the Minsk Region is the development of the industrial, agricultural and the social spheres. In many positions the Minsk Region shall reach the level of the Grodno Region, which in its turn shall not only preserve its high economic parameters, but also use the potential for further development of the key sectors.
