President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin noted in his congratulatory message that on this truly sacred day for Russians and Belarusians the peoples pay tribute to gratitude and respect to the glorious generation of victors-front-line soldiers, partisans, underground fighters and home front workers. "The memory of their courage, selflessness and, of course, the incalculable sacrifices that had to be made for the Victory over the Nazis will forever remain in our hearts," the Russian leader emphasized. - Unfortunately, today there are many forces in the world who not only justify the bloody atrocities of the Nazis and their accomplices, but also purposefully nurture their ideological heirs who commit no less grave crimes".

Vladimir Putin pointed out that Russia highly appreciates the unwavering support of Belarus and Minsk's active participation in strengthening the security of the Union State: "I am confident that by preserving the good traditions of fraternal friendship and mutual support our peoples will be able to overcome any difficulties and trials with honor."
