President of Belarus approves draft agreement with Russia on cooperation in financial market supervision

On April 22, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed Decree No. 172 approving the draft agreement between the Government of Belarus, the National Bank of Belarus and the Government of Russia, the Central Bank of Russia on cooperation and exchange of information, including confidential information, in the field of supervision and (or) control over the financial market as a basis for negotiations. This is reported by BelTA with reference to the press service of the President.

In order to strengthen the reliability and stability of financial markets, the draft agreement enshrines the ways of exchange of information between supervisory bodies (the National Bank of Belarus, the Ministry of Finance of Belarus and the Central Bank of Russia), obtained in the framework of supervision and control of financial markets. The procedure of joint inspections of financial market participants with cross-border institutions and the possibility of establishing joint supervisory boards are also envisaged.

The Government and the National Bank are authorized to negotiate the draft agreement and sign it.
