Signing ceremony of twinning agreement between Minsk and Omsk to be held on September 11

On September 11, a delegation from Omsk led by the mayor of the Russian city Sergei Shelest will arrive in the Belarusian capital, Sputnik reports citing the press service of Minsk City Executive Committee.

"On September 11, Chairman of Minsk City Executive Committee Vladimir Kukharev will meet with the mayor of Omsk, as well as the ceremony of signing a twinning agreement," the press service noted.

It is planned that the delegation of the Russian city will visit a number of the capital's enterprises, including MAZ, MTZ, Elema, Kommunarka, as well as the shopping center "Stolitsa".

"On September 12, a ceremony of laying flowers to the stele "Minsk - Hero-City" will be held, said Minsk city executive committee.

Currently, the Belarusian capital has sister cities in Turkey, UAE, India, Kyrgyzstan, Germany, Cuba, Tajikistan, Russia, Pakistan, Moldova, France, Poland, Great Britain, China, Japan, Georgia, Iran, Vietnam, Zimbabwe and the Netherlands.

Interestingly, Minsk already has many twin cities in Russia: Yekaterinburg, Kaluga, Murmansk, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Rostov-on-Don, Ufa and Ulyanovsk.
