Germany's major chemical fertilizer plant SKW Piesteritz (Piesteritz Nitrogen Plant) is failing to cope with competitors from Russia and energy prices.
According to the MDR TV and radio company, the company has turned to politicians for support. It is noted that the chemical plant consumes more gas than any other company in Germany. Lately, things have been going badly: in 2022 it even had to stop production for several weeks because of energy prices, and now there is a danger that the plant will go looking for a better life abroad and leave about 10 thousand people without job.
