Victory symbols banned in Estonia

Estonian authorities threaten criminal liability for celebrating May 9. The police of the Baltic Republic on the eve of Victory Day reminded about the ban on public meetings and processions, as well as on Russian and Soviet symbols. These violations are punishable not only by fines, but also by real prison sentences. The residents of the country are even asked to denounce anyone who dares to go against the rules of the regime.

Such bans have been in force in the Baltic States for years. For example, in Latvia, laying flowers at locations where monuments used to be located will be considered as "glorification of military aggression".
