Myasnikovich: National currencies should be the currency of contracts

Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Mikhail Myasnikovich told about trade within the EAEU and settlements in national currencies.

We need to switch to fundamentally new approaches - it is necessary to have national currencies as the currency of contracts, said Mikhail Myasnikovich and explained: "Because sometimes trade in the contract is prescribed in hard currencies, the reserve currencies of the International Monetary Fund, and then the calculations are made in national currencies. The cost of trade goods should be registered in the national currency. Then there will be fewer shocks experienced by the economies of the EAEU due to volatility of currencies.

According to him, about 80% of traded goods and services are paid in national currencies in the EAEU. "The main specific weight is, of course, the Russian ruble. Belarusian ruble currently accounts for about 4% in the Belarusian mutual settlements," he said.
