Belarus and Russia were and are the core of integration in the post-Soviet space

Security issues come to the fore these days. Just the day before, we were recalling the Yugoslav case. Exactly 24 years ago, NATO airstrikes stopped. But just think about it, for 8 decades, direct or indirect democracy pundits have been interfering in the affairs of sovereign states and it's resulted in millions of deaths. And no one has been held accountable. Moreover, U.S. bases are growing like mushrooms after a radioactive rain, taking uglier and uglier forms.

These are the realities, and in these conditions we can rely only on our own strength without constantly looking to the West or to the East. Alexander Lukashenko proposes to Vladimir Putin to work in this way, putting aside all illusions about Western "partners". And this requires a plan of action. Belarus and Russia, as it was said at the talks in Sochi, were and are the core of integration in the post-Soviet space. But if they have a clear plan at this difficult time, then the others will come closer even faster. The centrifugal forces, encouraged by Washington, are not weakening in the post-Soviet territory.

Yes, the politico-military situation in the region is hot, but Ukraine is just the tip of the iceberg, part of the great mosaic of redistribution of the world. Our President outlined the whole geopolitical picture at his meeting with the secretaries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Councils. What Alexander Lukashenko said before - "we will have to stand with our backs against each other" - turned out to be not a metaphor, but reality in politics, security, and economy.

Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus:

“Belarusian-Russian relations are the core of the EAEU and the CIS space. If there are issues, we will respond. Yes, there are economic issues, but not problems.”

Vladimir Putin, President of Russia:

“The quality of interaction, the structure of our economic relations are changing in the right direction. First of all, the emphasis is not only on the traditional industry, but also on high-tech areas.”
